FHA MD urges calm as Zonal bid opening announced amid surge in tenders

FHA MD urges calm as Zonal bid opening announced amid surge in tenders

The Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has called for calm and reassured bidders of a transparent process as the agency prepares to open tenders for the Renewed Hope Housing Projects on a zonal basis.

Speaking at a press conference, the FHA MD addressed concerns about the large volume of bids—exceeding 2,000 submissions—and outlined measures to prevent crowd control challenges or stampedes during the tender-opening exercise.

“We are taking all necessary steps to ensure your safety and well-being,” the MD stated, urging bidders to rely on official communication channels for updates to avoid misinformation. He emphasised the agency’s commitment to transparency and open communication throughout the process.

To manage the expected large turnout, the FHA announced that bids would be opened in phases across six geopolitical zones, starting from December 30, 2024. The zonal schedule includes the South-South on December 30, North-West on December 31, South-East on January 2, North-East on January 3, North-Central on January 6, and South-West on January 7, 2025.

Each company will be allowed only one representative, who must undergo clearance at the FHA headquarters before gaining access to the venue. These measures, the MD explained, are necessary to ensure a smooth and orderly process, given the substantial number of participants.

The FHA expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by these arrangements and reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of the bid-opening exercise.
