Onyema bags traditional title of Ikemba Aro in Arochukwu Kingdom

Traditional honour has come the way of Mazi Dr. Onyema S. Edward, a distinguished member of the Ndi Ole, Ota Ogboti Family in Amangwu Village, Arochukwu Kingdom, as he has been conferred with the revered title of Ikemba Aro.

The royal proclamation was made by His Eminence, Eberechukwu Oji, the Eze Aro of the Arochukwu Kingdom, on November 30, 2024. A grand celebration to honour this significant milestone took place on December 26, 2024, organized by Nzuko Arochukwu Worldwide, in recognition of Dr. Edward’s outstanding contributions to his community, nation, and the global stage.

Born into the respected family of Mazi Edward Iroegbu Ole, Dr. Edward was raised with values of integrity, discipline, and compassion—principles that have shaped his extraordinary journey. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and a Master’s degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, along with other notable academic qualifications.

A seasoned professional, Dr. Edward is a member of the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His expertise spans diverse fields, including electrical engineering, telecommunications, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), renewable energy, and intelligent systems. His career highlights include serving as an Electrical and Telecommunication Officer at Megatek Integrated Investment Limited, a faculty member at the School of Information and Communication Technology, Federal Road Safety Corps Academy, and, currently, as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Environmental Design and Engineering Technology and Acting Director of ICT at Federal Polytechnic Ngodo Isuochi.

Dr. Edward’s dedication extends beyond his professional achievements to impactful community service. He has served as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Collation Officer for Nkanu West during the 2023 National Assembly elections and has made significant contributions to various community initiatives.

These include serving as Secretary for Aro Day 2022, Secretary of the Security Subcommittee for the National Coronation Celebration Council of Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom (2023), Secretary of the Arochukwu Youth Micro Enterprise Standing Committee, and Chairman of the Entertainment Subcommittee for Aro Day 2024, among others.

During his early school days, Dr. Edward actively coordinated youth and spiritual organizations such as Scripture Union and the National Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES), showcasing his commitment to fostering the moral and spiritual development of young people.

Through his unwavering dedication to community development, leadership, and empowerment, Dr. Edward has become an exemplary figure and a source of inspiration. The conferral of the Ikemba Aro title stands as a testament to his service, excellence, and relentless efforts toward the betterment of society.
