Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III has expressed satisfaction with Dr Godwin Ebosa’s accomplishments, commending him for transforming Oboghoro into a mini-city.

The monarch spoke in Oboghoro, Delta State, during the flag off of the town’s cultural and musical festival titled: ‘Oboghoro Festival 2024.’

While unveiling the statue of the founder of the ancient town of Oboghoro in 1740 A.D., Prince Ijala Akengboye, Atuwatse, represented by Chief Brown Mene, said he was proud of visiting the ancient town for a record third time since ascending the throne.

He noted that the spirit of development in the people of Oboghoro had always impressed him, even as he challenged every other community in Iwereland to emulate the transformation.

He added that it was all made possible by Ebosa’s visionary leadership.

Ebosa, in his remarks, thanked the Royal father for according them the rare honour of visiting their town.

According to him, the people now feel blessed and fulfilled in their efforts to do more, promising that they would always do their best to earn his confidence.

Ebosa went down memory lane to tell the story of how the transformation phase in the development of the community began.

He said the former swampy terrain was massively deforested, noting that they were able to reclaim the land through excavation and sand-filling.

According to him, 12 young men were instrumental to the wonderful job seen in the new Oboghoro, even as he revealed that three of the 12 men were non-indigenes.

The ceremony featured cultural dance competition among the Ilaje, the Itsekiri, the Urhobo and the Ijaw.

Handsome prizes in millions of naira in cash were also attached.
