The Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Dr. Ben Oramalugo, has reported a remarkable revenue generation of N72,568,409,802.02 from January to November 2024.

Speaking at a year-end press conference held at the command headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan, Dr. Oramalugo emphasized the command’s commitment to enhancing economic stability in the region.

He highlighted that from October 30 to December 23, 2024, the command generated N15,911,581,116.72 in revenue for October and November, a 133.57% increase compared to N11,912,219,301.19 collected during the same months in 2023.

Cumulatively, the total revenue from January to November 2024 reflects a 13.17% increase from the N64,118,678,267.69 collected during the same period last year.

Dr. Oramalugo credited the success to the dedication of officers, enhanced enforcement measures, and the adoption of modern trade facilitation tools that have promoted transparency and compliance.

Additionally, he mentioned that the command had intensified its anti-smuggling operations, particularly as the festive season approached. These efforts led to the interception of prohibited items valued at N370,772,600.00 between October 30 and December 19, 2024. Seized items included foreign parboiled rice, macaroni, premium motor spirit, second-hand clothing, used tires, and unlicensed pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Oramalugo reaffirmed the command’s dedication to upholding Nigeria’s economic integrity and ensuring compliance with fiscal and trade policies for national development.
