The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 Appropriation Bill, increasing the budget from the N382.57 billion initially proposed by Governor Abdullahi Sule to N402.57 billion.

The Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, announced the passage during a plenary session on Friday in Lafia. He explained that the additional N20 billion was approved to address economic complexities and account for inflationary pressures affecting key budgetary items.

Jatau noted that the increased budget would enable the state government to implement people-oriented projects for the overall development of Nasarawa State once it is signed into law by the governor.

He stated: “A Bill for a Law to Issue Out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State (Appropriation) of the Sum of N402,567,843,592.03 is read for the third time and passed.”

The breakdown of the 2025 Appropriation Bill includes: Recurrent Expenditure: N166,384,435,542.25

Capital Expenditure: N236,183,408,049.78

Governor Sule had originally presented the N382.57 billion budget, christened the “Budget of Economic Growth and Stability,” to the legislature on November 29, 2024, for approval.

The upward adjustment by the House underscores its commitment to addressing critical economic and infrastructural needs in the state, ensuring the budget aligns with current realities.
