Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), operating under Sector 1 in Mora, successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on the Darak military base in Cameroon.

According to a statement by Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer, the attack occurred in the early hours of December 18, 2024. “The operations led to the elimination of 10 terrorists,” he said.

The assault began at dawn, with terrorists launching attacks from multiple directions. In a fierce gun battle, troops swiftly neutralized six terrorists and forced the remaining attackers to retreat with gunshot wounds.

Unfortunately, five soldiers sustained injuries during the encounter and are currently responding to medical treatment.

In a follow-up operation, MNJTF troops ambushed the fleeing wounded terrorists along their regrouping route near Mazogo, a village between Zamba and Djibirilli. Four more terrorists were eliminated as they approached the ambush zone, and troops recovered assorted food items belonging to the attackers.

This decisive action brings the total number of terrorists neutralized to 10. Lt. Col. Osoba highlighted the operation as a testament to MNJTF’s unwavering commitment to defeating terrorism and safeguarding regional security.
