BENIN CITY – Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has declared that his administration will not rely on consultants in managing the affairs of the state.

He made this statement on Tuesday during the swearing-in ceremony for members of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Local Government Service Commission, Edo State Sports Commission, and newly appointed Permanent Secretaries.

Speaking at the event, the governor emphasized his commitment to empowering officials to perform their duties efficiently, without outsourcing responsibilities to external consultants.

“We are here today in pursuit of a better society as we swear in members of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Local Government Service Commission, Sports Commission, and our new Permanent Secretaries,” Okpebholo said.

Governor Okpebholo reiterated his administration’s determination to deliver on campaign promises, focusing on good governance, infrastructural development, and improved social services for Edo State residents.

“My administration is set to make a huge difference in governance. We aim to take up this challenge responsibly because things cannot remain the way they are,” he stated.

He assured the newly inaugurated officials of the government’s full support in ensuring they succeed in their respective roles.

“To our Permanent Secretaries, we will assist you in building a responsive public service that prioritizes innovation. Your jobs will not be handed over to consultants; you are expected to perform your duties effectively. We will continue to support you and hold you accountable as needed, ensuring that our programs and policies are translated into tangible results.”

In response, the Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Oladele Bankole-Balogun, expressed gratitude for the governor’s trust and pledged the commitment of the newly sworn-in officials to collaborate and drive the administration’s success.

The event marks a key step in Governor Okpebholo’s agenda to prioritize efficiency and accountability within the public service, signaling a shift toward more hands-on governance in Edo State.
