Meet the impact-driven blockchain engineer inspiring a new generation of innovators

By Dele Taiwo

In the rapidly evolving world of blockchain technology, where technical brilliance often overshadows the human element, Faith Ida stands out as a unique force. Not only is she a master of her craft, working across some of the world’s most renowned blockchain ecosystems, but she is also deeply committed to using her skills to drive meaningful impact and inspire others to do the same. Faith’s journey is one of resilience, innovation, and an unshakable belief in the potential of technology to empower communities and transform lives.

Faith’s career as a blockchain engineer is marked by technical expertise and a passion for addressing real-world challenges. She has worked with popular blockchains such as Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, and Solana to build decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contract solutions. From decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms that enhance financial inclusion to blockchain systems that promote transparency in governance, her work is grounded in solving problems that matter.

One of Faith’s most celebrated personal blockchain projects is NeighbourGood, a DAO-powered platform developed during the Lloyds Bank Hackathon Challenge. The platform gives communities a voice in how local funds are allocated, using blockchain to ensure transparency and accountability. Winning the competition was not just a testament to Faith’s technical ingenuity but also her ability to reimagine governance in a way that empowers ordinary people.

Her project KoboFarm takes this impact-driven approach even further. A blockchain-based farming simulation game, KoboFarm allows players to earn NFTs while supporting real-world agricultural innovation. By integrating advanced farming techniques such as hydroponics and aeroponics, KoboFarm directly addresses Nigeria’s food insecurity crisis. While winning a Metaverse Competition, KoboFarm demonstrated how blockchain could bridge the gap between virtual innovation and real-world change.

Faith’s ability to merge technology with purpose is perhaps best illustrated in her commitment to mentorship and capacity-building. She has been a driving force in programs like STEMafrique Initiative where her leadership attracted the organisation millions of Naira in grants to provide mentorship opportunities to the smartest students in Nigeria. Also at Code First Girls, where she has guided women into tech careers at global companies like NatWest, BAE Systems, and Ford. Her mentees have gone on to achieve remarkable success, working on blockchain and technology projects across the globe. Faith’s impact extends beyond technical training; she instills in her mentees the confidence to dream big and the skills to make those dreams a reality.

Faith’s work is deeply rooted in her belief that blockchain is more than just a technological breakthrough—it is a tool for empowerment. She has championed the use of blockchain to address systemic issues in Africa, from financial exclusion to inefficiencies in supply chains. Her hands-on approach, combined with her strategic vision, has enabled her to design solutions that are not only innovative but also scalable and impactful.

Her influence goes beyond the technology itself. Faith has cultivated a network of young innovators, many of whom have gone on to work on groundbreaking projects both within and outside Africa. By mentoring the next generation, she ensures that her impact is multiplied, creating a ripple effect of innovation and empowerment.

Faith Ida’s story is one of inspiration and determination. In a field often dominated by buzzwords and fleeting trends, she has remained steadfast in her mission to use blockchain as a force for good. Her journey is proof that technology, when guided by purpose and vision, can create lasting change.

As an impact-driven expert, Faith has become a beacon for aspiring technologists across Africa and beyond. Her work reminds us that innovation is not just about what we build but about who we empower along the way. Faith Ida is not only shaping the future of blockchain but also inspiring a generation to see technology as a tool to uplift, transform, and redefine the world for the better.
