OSOGBO – An Osun-based contractor, Mr. Kehinde Oladosu, has accused operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Lagos, of disregarding the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) directive on the transfer of investigation. He also raised concerns about threats to his life and that of his family over a land dispute matter.

Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Monday, Oladosu explained that the dispute began as a subject of litigation at a State High Court. The case escalated after land grabbers allegedly committed malicious damage, prompting a fresh investigation initiated by the Osun State Police Command following a new petition.

According to Oladosu: “The suspects, after being invited by the Osun State Police Command, submitted a similar petition at Alagbon in Lagos but altered the details to make me appear as the aggressor.

“Rather than allowing the Osun State Police Command to proceed with the investigation, operatives of the FCID Alagbon sent a signal requesting the transfer of the case details to Lagos. However, the Force Headquarters in Abuja issued a contrary directive, stating that the investigation must remain in Osogbo.”

A letter dated October 30, 2024, referenced CB:7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL. 759/122, was addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police (FCID) and the Commissioner of Police in Osun. It instructed that the Osun Command should be allowed to conclude the investigation and report back to the IGP’s office in Abuja.

The letter, signed by the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, DCP Asuquo Effiong, further emphasized:

“Meanwhile, it is to be noted that the Inspector-General of Police’s policy against the transfer of cases subsists. Consequently, the State Criminal Investigation Department, Osun State Command, is to continue with the investigation until otherwise directed.”

Despite the directive, Oladosu alleged that FCID operatives invaded his Osogbo residence last month, arrested him, and detained him at Alagbon in Lagos. He expressed concerns over the operatives’ actions, particularly as a case seeking the enforcement of his fundamental human rights is already before a State High Court.

Urging the IGP to investigate the disregard of his order, Oladosu stated:

“This blatant disregard for the IGP’s directive is worrisome. My family and I are living in fear as operatives continue to threaten us despite the clear instructions from the IGP and an ongoing court case.”

Oladosu called on the IGP to ensure justice is served and to safeguard his rights and safety.
