GOVERNOR Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has ordered the immediate increase of allowances due to the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC members serving in the state from N4,000 to N10,000.
Coordinator of the National Youths Service Scheme in the state, Elder Joshua Olowuokere, who announced this during the swearing-in ceremony of about 3,000, 2012 Batch ‘A’ corps members deployed to Enugu State at Awgu Orientation Camp also commended Governor Chime for approving the building of an additional Hostel accommodation in the camp.
The Coordinator further promised to apply the Federal Government new posting policy for the present set of corps members adding that in line with the policy, corps members would henceforth be posted to serve only in four key areas, namely education, rural health, agriculture and infrastructure.
In a brief address, Governor Chime assured the corps members of their safety in the State adding that his administration would continue to provide them with necessary facilities to enable them have a hitch free orientation course.
He noted that the recent upward review of their transport allowance was to motivate them to put in more effort in the development goals of government.
