The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has congratulated the Minister of Interior,
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on the successful launch of the innovative e-Gate system.
A statement signed by the association’s Senate President, National Headquarters, Akinteye Afeez Babatunde, during the 86th National Senate Sitting and Pre-Convention at the Lagos State University in Ojo, Lagos State, noted that unveiling of the e-Gate system represents a pivotal advancement in Nigeria’s efforts to modernize border management and strengthen national security.
According to Babatunde, this cutting-edge technology not only aligns with international standards but also highlights the Ministry of Interior’s proactive approach to integrating innovation for the benefit of the Nigerian populace.
During the Senate sitting, student leaders and stakeholders from across the country came together to celebrate the Minister’s visionary leadership.
“The e-Gate system, which is part of the Integrated Border Management System, promises to streamline the verification of travelers’ identities, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and security within Nigeria’s immigration framework.”
“This initiative stands to benefit students significantly, particularly those seeking opportunities abroad. By minimizing delays and facilitating smoother travel, it will promote academic and cultural exchanges, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to supporting youth development.”
“Moreover, we commend the Ministry for its recent achievements, including the resolution of over 200,000 passport backlogs. Such proactive measures reflect a student-centered administration focused on the welfare of all Nigerians.”
