An expert in technology, Dr. Godwin Asogbon, has stressed the need for both Federal and State Governments to review the existing cyber security policy in the country in order to effectively secure financial transactions of the citizens.

Asogbon, Managing Director, Globatech World Professionals, made the call at a three day Annual Retreat for Finance and Account Officers in the state health facilities.

At the retreat with the theme: “Cyber Security and Internet Safety, on Accounts and Electronic Medical Records, (EMR),” Organised by Lagos State Health Service Commission, Asogbon who was the guest lecturer, stated: “Today, everybody is gravitating towards internet to carry-out activities of government in one form or the other. So they (public servants) should be aware of cyber-attacks vulnerabilities that could be created in the process of discharging their duties. These vulnerabilities could create an avenue for cyber-attacks. “Another danger is the personal threats, in the sense that valuable information of civil servants, if revealed to general public, could be a major problem on the operations of government and if this is attacked, it could lead to breakdown of government’s activities.”

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Health Service Commission, Dr Ademuyiwa Eniayewun, in his keynote address, tasked the Accountants to handle the business of health the right way, by ensuring money is well spent judiciously, and assisting hospitals’ Medical Directors to plan all monetary matters in a way that will enhance hospital growth and quality healthcare services.
