Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, to return to the negotiation table just hours after the union declared an indefinite strike.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello, the governor urged the striking lecturers to consider the welfare of students and suspend their industrial action.
The governor acknowledged the lecturers’ patience and cooperation in the past and called for continued understanding as efforts are underway to address their grievances.
“This administration is working on all outstanding agreements and related issues,” the statement read.
“As partners in the effort to provide free education, I am committed to meeting your demands and creating a conducive environment for learning in the university community.”
Governor Kefas reiterated his administration’s dedication to resolving the challenges facing the university and ensuring a harmonious academic environment for both staff and students.
