West Africa Container Terminal (WACT)-APM Terminals Nigeria has been recognized as the “Best Terminal Operator” at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Comptroller General of Customs Awards, held last week in Abuja.

This esteemed accolade celebrates WACT-APM Terminals’ exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s maritime sector, highlighting its commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Renowned for its focus on efficiency, safety, and sustainability, the company has cemented its reputation as a leading trade facilitator in the region.

Receiving the award on behalf of the organization, Innocent Ogbuji, Government and Public Relations General Manager, expressed gratitude to the NCS, stating: “We are deeply honored by this recognition and thank the Comptroller General of Customs for this award. WACT-APM Terminals remain committed to leveraging advanced technology, prioritizing safety, fostering a strong team culture, and implementing sustainable practices to maintain our leadership in terminal operations. Our goal is to facilitate seamless trade in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service.”

Located in the Oil and Gas Free Zone at Onne Port, Rivers State, WACT-APM Terminals Nigeria is the country’s first greenfield container terminal developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Over the years, it has become a vital trade hub for markets beyond Lagos, driving economic activity in eastern Nigeria and beyond.

Recall that in September 2024, Vice President Kashim Shettima inaugurated a transformative USD 115 million terminal upgrade, underscoring the company’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, efficiency, and sustainability. This investment reflects APM Terminals’ confidence in Nigeria’s economic potential and reinforces WACT-APM Terminals’ strategic role in fostering economic growth.

The recognition from the NCS reaffirms WACT-APM Terminals Nigeria’s pivotal position in the maritime industry and its unwavering dedication to trade facilitation, innovation, and economic development across West Africa.
