The Honourable Member of the House of Representatives representing Badagry Federal Constituency, Rep. Sesi Whingan, on Saturday concluded a two-day intensive training on biogas technology for 50 youths from three local councils in Badagry.

Speaking shortly after the training programme, Whingan, who was represented by Alhaji Hassan Hammed, the Personal Assistant to the lawmaker, emphasized the importance of renewable energy as a tool for community development and economic empowerment.

“This initiative aligns with my vision of creating opportunities for our youths and promoting sustainable practices that will benefit not just individuals but our entire constituency.

“With this training, you now have the tools and resources to become change agents in the energy sector,” he stated.

Whingan noted that the training was held in collaboration with the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA).

According to him, the aim is to empower participants with practical knowledge of biogas technology for domestic use while promoting renewable energy solutions in the community. The training, which combined theoretical sessions with hands-on practical demonstrations, was facilitated by experts from NBRDA.

“The experts are Mrs. Mariam Ibrahim, Chief Research Officer, and Mr. Damilola Adeyemo, Senior Research Officer.

“Participants were trained on the production, application, and benefits of biogas technology.

“This will equip them with the skills to establish small-scale biogas systems for domestic and commercial purposes,” he said.

Whingan provided each participant with a ₦100,000 start-up grant to kickstart their ventures in biogas technology.

According to the lawmaker, the financial support is expected to enable the beneficiaries to apply the knowledge gained during the training and contribute to the promotion of clean energy within Badagry.

Abdulhadi Adebayo, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude to the lawmaker for the opportunity and financial support.

Similarly, Dansu Pentho, another beneficiary, pledged to utilize the skills and resources provided to establish sustainable biogas ventures in her community.

The training underscores Whingan’s dedication to empowering youths in Badagry Federal Constituency and fostering innovative solutions to modern-day challenges.
