The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in Kano State, on Wednesday, commended Governor Abba Yusuf for implementing the N71,000 minimum wage for civil servants of the state.
The NLC, in a statement by its chairman, Mr Kabiru A. Inuwa said the decision marks a “significant step towards improving the welfare and living standards of our dedicated workforce.”
Inuwa noted that the implementation wil boost the morale of workers.
He said: “The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Kano State Council wishes to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf fulfilling his pledge for the successful implementation of the 71,000 Naira minimum wage for workers in Kano State.
“This landmark decision marks a significant step towards improving the welfare and living standards of our dedicated workforce,
commitment to fair compensation and this justify not only recognizing the hard work and contributions of our state’s labor force but also reinforces the government’s dedication to fostering a conducive environment for productivity and economic growth.
“We, therefore, use this medium to commend the Comrade Workers and Pensioners friendly Governor for prioritizing the needs of workers and demonstrating strong leadership in these challenging times.
“This implementation will undoubtedly boost the morale of workers, upgrade local spending, and contribute to the overall development of Kano State. We look forward to continued collaboration with the state government to ensure that the rights and welfare of all workers are upheld.
“We sincerely appreciate the giant strides undertaken by His Excellency in permitting conducive labour relations in the state.
We further exhort all workers to reciprocate with hard work, efficiency and dedication that is inherent in kano state public service.
“As representative of both worker’s and Pensioners, we equally urge His Excellency too look the improvement of minimum Pension as a result of the implementation of the New National Minimum Wage of #70,000.00 for them also to continue benefitting from His Excellency’s magnanimous gesture.”
