Veteran politician and former presidential candidate, Dr. Sarah Jibril, has spoken out against the growing trend of homosexuality and lesbianism among the nation’s elite. She has launched a campaign aimed at tackling the issue.

Dr. Jibril, who also served as Presidential Adviser on Ethics and Values, made the announcement at the maiden edition of Nigeria’s Pride Award, organized by veteran journalist and Pan-Nigerian advocate, Mr. Bonaventure Melah, in Abuja.

In his address to the distinguished Nigerians gathered at the event held at Barcelona Hotel, Abuja, Mr. Melah urged Nigerians to shift their focus from the country’s negatives and appreciate its positives.

“There are good Nigerians in both the private and public sectors, and that’s why we are honoring them,” said Melah.

One of the awardees, Governor of Borno State, Professor Umaru Zulum, who was represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Dauda Iliya, used the occasion to update attendees on his administration’s efforts to recover from the devastation caused by Boko Haram. Professor Zulum, who was recognized as the Best Governor in Security and Most People-Oriented Governor, highlighted that Borno was on the path to recovery.

On his part, Mallam Lanre Isa-Onilu, Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), stressed the need for leadership and followership rooted in mutual trust. He emphasized that leadership based on integrity cultivates trust among followers.
