The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), the apex socio-political organization for the South-South, has celebrated former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, as Nigeria’s foremost peace ambassador and democrat on the occasion of his 67th birthday, November 20, 2024.

In a congratulatory message signed by PANDEF’s National Chairman, Amb. Godknows Igali, the forum praised Jonathan for his unwavering commitment to peace and democracy, citing his historic concession after the 2015 presidential election.

“You remain shining as the only major Nigerian politician who never went to court despite the fact that the election in question had its own fair share of flaws which were quite noticeable and known to all,” PANDEF stated.

The message highlighted Jonathan’s personal mantra that his political ambition was not worth the blood of any Nigerian, adding that his decision to congratulate former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, even before vote counting was complete, marked a significant moment in Nigeria’s democratic history.

PANDEF also commended Jonathan’s global impact, stating, “The dignified role which nature has bestowed on you as a global peace icon and your frontal role in consolidating democracy and good governance in various countries on the African continent and around the world speaks for itself.”

The forum assured Jonathan of its continued support in all his endeavors and joined in prayers for his long life and impactful contributions to humanity.

The statement was signed by Chief Obiuwevbi Ominimini, PANDEF Spokesman.
