The lawmaker representing Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency of Cross River State, Dr Alex Egbona, on Friday, said his mantra of placing the people first aligns with that of Governor Bassey Otu.
Speaking after monitoring the outreach in Imabana and Ekori, on Friday, the lawmaker expressed satisfaction with the turn out by the people and the service delivery on the part of the health personnel who handled no fewer than 800 patients with various ailments.
Noting that the state governor was serious about turning bitter waters to sweetness for the people of the state, Dr Egbona said what he has been doing in the recent past for the people of Abi/Yakurr was in line with the governor’s mantra of placing the interest of the people first.
While urging Ekori and Imabana people to maintain peace and support the local, state and federal government authorities, Egbona said he would continue to “work hard for his people and attract more goodies to the constituency.”
Chairman of Abi Local Government, Bassey Egbala, who accompanied him to the two centres in Ekori and Imabana where the outreach took place, commended Egbona for his large heart and expressed his readiness to work for the people, just like the federal lawmaker.
Egbala was at the Imabana health centre venue of the outreach with snacks, water and drinks for the health workers as well as some of the patients who thronged the centre for medical care.
Thursday’s activity was the third day of the medical outreach. Egbona told the people that solar street lights, treated mosquito bed nets, solar inverter and boreholes would be provided for the various health centres between now and next year.
Chairman of the Ekori town council, Joseph Omini, who was accompanied by other council members, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the quality of representation and described him as a man with a soft spot for his constituents.
Mrs Iboli Patrick, who spoke at the Imabana centre, expressed happiness for the opportunity to benefit from the free outreach just as she also commende Egbona for always putting the people’s interest first.
Eval Imo Ilogbo, clan head of Lehagha, who also spoke, said: “I heard about this comprehensive medical outreach through the council of chiefs and we communicate to our people through the local town crier. I came here because of my eyes which have been disturbing for a very long time and I want to appreciate our honourable for giving us this opportunity because the last time we enjoyed such was about a decade ago, and it was not even like this one.”
