The National Woman Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs. Falilat Darasimi, has rallied support and mobilized women’s groups across Ondo State in favor of the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, ahead of Saturday’s election.

Darasimi, alongside the Ondo State Woman Leader of the PDP, Hon. Kemi Adesanya, distributed palliatives to various women’s groups to help alleviate hunger in the state.

Speaking in Akure, the state capital, Darasimi highlighted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was allegedly mobilizing funds to sway voters. She urged the women not to allow their votes to be bought, reminding them that the money offered on election day would not sustain them for the next four years. Darasimi also mentioned that the PDP candidate has pledged a 35% appointment rate for women if elected, emphasizing that only with PDP in office could their aspirations be realized.

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, also addressed the gathering, stressing the critical role women will play in the upcoming election, noting, “If women give you their word, you can go to sleep. The women are ready for PDP and Agboola Ajayi.”

Tambuwal encouraged the women to accept any monetary offers from APC as it was “the people’s money” but to vote their conscience for PDP. He reminded them of the recent victory in Edo State and expressed confidence in a similar outcome for Ondo State.

The Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Damagum, echoed support, asserting that PDP is committed to women’s empowerment, promising a 35% affirmative action for women if Ajayi is elected. He urged voters to resist any form of inducement from the opposition, affirming the PDP candidate’s readiness to transform Ondo State.

In her remarks, Adesanya emphasized that the women present are the party’s grassroots strength and expressed the importance of sensitizing them before the election. She assured them that the PDP candidate values women and has promised them a significant role if elected.
