ABUJA: The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, raked in N11.5 billion from the sale of nomination /expression of interest forms, levies and dues from aspirants and political office holders between February and March, 2023.
Out of this sum, N7.9 billion was spent on state congresses, national convention as well as campaigns for various offices during the 2023 general elections.
A breakdown of those figures is contained in the party’s audited report submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in line with provisions of the Electoral Act.
The figures show that the sale of Presidential, Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly forms accounted for the largest chunk of the revenue.
A breakdown of the expenditure shows that N3.1billion was spent on the party’s state congresses and the national convention.“The sum of N1.7billion was disbursed to states and candidates who participated in the various electoral contests.
Another sum of N72.070 million was spent on allowances for party agents, while N233.4million was spent on training, workshops and lectures during the period.“Other expenses include: personnel cost which took N166.5 million, hiring of buses N27.7million.
