ASABA – A group, Concerned Citizens of Bomadi Constituency, has asked the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor to provide reasons for the suspension of the member representing the constituency in the Assembly, Mr. Oboro Kenneth Preyor.

Recall that the House, on Tuesday, suspended Preyor for 14 legislative days over alleged gross misconduct. 

But the group in a statement by Engr. Franklin Miebi Garry, noted that the suspension of the lawmaker by the Delta State Assembly had “raised eyebrows, with many questioning the grounds for the decision.”

The statement said: “As the Governor presents the 2025 budget proposal to the State Assembly, attention turns to the circumstances surrounding Preyor’s suspension.

“In the interest of accountability and transparency, the Speaker must provide clear explanations for the actions taken against Preyor. The people of Delta State deserve to know what constitutes ‘gross misconduct’ in this context.

“What specific actions or behaviors led to Preyor’s suspension? Were there any prior warnings or disciplinary measures taken before the suspension? How does the Assembly define ‘gross misconduct,’ and are these guidelines publicly available?

“We urge the Speaker to provide a detailed response to these questions, ensuring that the people of Delta State understand the reasoning behind Preyor’s suspension. Transparency is essential in maintaining public trust and confidence in the Assembly’s decision-making processes.

“The good people of Bomadi constituency deserve to be represented at the discussions of the State budget, so we urge the Speaker to do all within his power to include our representative in the discussions of the 2025 budget.”
