JEDCO blames epileptic power supply in 4 states on faulty 330kV transmission line

Lagos hospital pays N20m monthly bill for 3hrs daily electricity

The Jos Electricity Distribution Company, JEDCO, has blamed the epileptic power supply to its four franchise states of Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, and Gombe on the low power supply allocation from the national grid.

The company attributed the development to the damaged 330kV Ugwuaji-Makurdi transmission line.

JEDCO in a statement made available to newsmen Tuesday in Makurdi by its Head, Corporate Communications, Dr. Adakole Elijah explained that the company resorted to load shedding when its daily allocation of power dropped to 90MW.

He assured that JEDCO would be able to supply its customers adequate energy as soon as the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, completes repair work on the damaged 330kV Ugwuaji-Makurdi transmission line.

According him, “the load shedding in the last couple of days was due to the low power supply allocation from the national grid because of the 330KV transmission lines limitations supplying power to our franchise area.

“Our daily allocation within this period was dropped to 90MW daily for our four franchise states of Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, and Gombe.

“This has necessitated us to embark on load shedding of our customers in all our areas of operations in an equitable manner pending improvement in supply from the national grid.

“We urge you not to despair as we hope to give you full supply as soon as TCN is able to complete the repair works on the remaining faulty 330kV Ugwuaji-Makurdi transmission line.”
