The Season 4 of Naijamasterchef ends in thrills as Onuh Chisom Patience becomes the winner, while Omom Wisdom Uche becomes 1stRunner-Up.
Naijamasterchef was initiated to promote cooking talents locally and internationally among passionate Nigerians in that industry. It also promotes self-reliant and job creation. The beauty of it is that it created room for serious competition and learning following the quality of training offered by industry professionals engaged during the competition.
Narrating her experience to newsmen as the winner Onuh a.k.a Chef Sommy who is from Enugu state said, “winning the show was to me like a dream, among other contestants. I was overwhelmed and you could see the joy all over me. I felt really great because it was an amazing experience to me. With this winning, I see myself in another chapter and I’m ready to go from there”.
To be honesty with you, with the calibre of professional chefs I met there, I didn’t think I was going to be a winner because I was the youngest in the house, and I felt intimidated, not confident because most of the contestants are more experienced. I felt I don’t have what they have acquired. But what really matters was what I know and was ready to give out in the house. So, I went there and did my best and won.
“As a winner, I won a car, got N1m, a trip to Carter from the organisers, Naijachefshub. I’m really grateful to them, they have given me an opportunity to fly in life. They should keep the good works going, and keep improving. This is only season 4 and they have done well. I have seen shows that are more than four years and can’t do what Naija Chef Hub has done”.
On her plan as an ambassador to GBC, she said, “I will try as much as possible to prove to the company that it was not a mistake winning this competition. I worth being the ambassador, I will push their products, create as many contents as I can. I will try to make the brand better as we work together”.
Continuing, Onuh said, “I have just concluded my course in the University of Lagos. I’m running my online class where I tutor people online. I also have my Instagram kitchen where I sell food online as people place order.
Commenting on the agreement Onuh signed with GBC Murphy Limited, the General Manager, Mr. Madubuife Nmadumere, said, “We are drafting endorsement package for the winner, Naijamasterchef, Season 4. Last year, we were part of the organisers, Naijachefshub. We like how they represented the company, so we decided to tie back with them. Last year we did on general product, but this year we focus on body spread. We saw the impact it had on the brand and product. And we intend to continue the relationship as we continue to get results”.
In addition, 1st Runner-Up, Omom Wisdom Uche a.k.a Chef Walker, who is from Delta state but was born and brought up in Benin City where he runs brand, Chef Walker Food, said, “I’m happy to be one of the contestants of Naijamasterchef, Season 4, where I became the first runner-up.
Initially we were 39 contestants, and the programme lasted for one month.
At first, meeting professional chefs with years of experience, I was scared. But at the end of the day I was able to become first runner-up because I believe in myself, and always have passion for cooking”.
“On my experience, it was not easy when we started because I’m not used in staying with crowd of people, but along the line getting to know people, interacting with others it became interesting as you make friends. Again, you have to learn how to manage people’s character.
On how he felt during eviction period, Omom said, “I was scared at the first eviction, even when my friends were evicted it was something else and I didn’t want to witness eviction any week because it was a tensed period. But in all, I benefited a lot from the programme because I learnt many things I was not able to do before this competition. I want to thank the organisers for this opportunity given to me to excel, and my fans out.
Omom said that as 1st Runner-Up, I’m entitled to monthly salary for 1year worth 1million naira
