Court cases delay devt. – Delta Dep. Governor

By Austin ogwuda

The Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof Amos Utuama has said that long judicial process to challenge the election of Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan as governor of Delta State by the opposition as a distraction that delays the development of the state.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel, Asaba, shortly after the Supreme Court judgment that upheld the victory of Uduaghan, Utuama noted; “we would have moved faster than we are in the development of this state but for this distraction (legal battles).

“The April election was contentiously contested. We had seven different litigations and one after the other God frustrated all of them. Today God has completed what He started in the life of this government. It is therefore befitting  for us to hold this thanksgiving”, he explained.

According to the deputy governor, the opposition, through series of litigation has driven away investors, as they (investors) take political risks into considerations. He however, expressed happiness that the judgment has strengthened  the confidence of investors in the state.

“For the past years serious investors who have one business or the other with the state have been waiting for today. We are going to have more investors because investors are now convinced of the stability of this government.

He however, urged the people of the state to see the legal victory as a springboard for the development and transformation of the state.
