In a ceremonial transition held on Wednesday at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi formally handed over the institution’s leadership to Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, now the substantive Vice-Chancellor.

Prof. Odoh’s appointment, approved by the university’s governing council on Tuesday, marks him as the 7th Vice-Chancellor and the first alumnus to lead the university.

Key attendees included Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Rev. Fr. Prof. Peter Agbonome and Professors Chinedu Onyeizugbe, Ken Ngwoke, Damian Chigozie Ezeonyejiaku, and Isaac Nwankwo, alongside council member Dr. Paul Okolie and Dr. Ugochukwu Udunze.

In her farewell remarks, Prof. Arinze-Umobi expressed confidence in Prof. Odoh’s leadership abilities and potential to advance the institution’s stature. Prof. Odoh, a renowned scholar in Applied Geophysics, thanked his predecessor for her service and pledged to drive progress, urging everyone’s cooperation to achieve shared goals.
