STUDENTS and staff of the Lagos State University- Adebola Adegunwa School of Communication,  LASUAASOC, Surulere, have continued to shower  encomiums on the out-going Dean of the school, Prof. Abduraheem Lawal, on his immense performance during his four-year administration.

In his welcome address at the sendforth ceremony held for Lawal, Prof. Lai Oso, current Dean of LASUAASOC, praised his predecessor for his immense contributions and untiring efforts in bringing the school to its present position.

Also speaking, Head, Journalism Department, Mr. Jimi Kayode, described the Dean as a humble friend who would always  listen to advice even from subordinates, towards the growth and development of the school.

Speaking on behalf of the faculty’s students, President, Communication Students Association (COSA), Comrade Habib Balogun, said that Prof. Lawal is a father indeed who usually listens whenever students approach him with problems.

Expressing joy and satisfaction with the honour and praises showered on him, Prof. Lawal said: “On one hand, I am happy leaving the School of Communication in the hands of a competent colleague like Prof. Lai Oso, but I’m sad because I will miss the best hands I worked with. “In spite of my efforts, I couldn’t touch the lives of some academic staff in terms of promotion. This is as a result of the bottlenecks within the university system that were beyond my powers.”

Meanwhile, he urged them not to relent under the new administration, but to expedite actions towards getting their relevant promotions.

Prof. Lawal expressed regret that the university radio was unable to go on air alongside University of Ilorin and University of Ibadan, whom together, were given licenses.

He advised all academic and administrative staff to be God-fearing and eschew unnecessary tussles for positions.
