ABUJA – Dr. Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac, an Abuja-based realtor, has emphasized the need for women to overcome emotional barriers like jealousy, envy, and entitlement mentality to achieve collective progress and individual growth.

She also highlighted how these emotions hinder success by weakening bonds and distracting from uplifting one another.

Speaking at the International Women Power Conference 2024 in Abuja, themed ‘The Resilient Woman,’ Godwin-Isaac stressed the importance of resilience as a crucial force for confronting life’s challenges with courage and grace.

She noted that resilience enables women to not only survive but thrive, even in a patriarchal world.

Drawing from her experiences as a leader and entrepreneur, Godwin-Isaac who also serves as the CEO of Homadil Realty Ltd, stressed that resilience is key to overcoming stereotypes and obstacles, advocating for unity and mutual empowerment among women.

She praised the achievements of historical figures like Margaret Ekpo and Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti as examples of brilliance and strength.

“Envy, though quieter, is just as dangerous. It grows in the shadows, as we compare ourselves to others feeling inadequate in the face of their achievements.

“Envy is the name of confidence, it makes us to question our worth, blinding us to our own strengths and what we have to offer.

“Jealousy creeps in when we see others succeed and feel that their victory somehow diminishes our worth, we feel threatened instead of inspired.

“But Jealousy is a thief – it steals our focus, our energy, and our potential to uplift one another.

“To be truly resilient, we must confront these forces within ourselves and choose a path of unity, support and mutual empowerment.

“As CEO of Homadil Reality, Ltd, and founder of multiple enterprises, I know firsthand the hurdles we face as women in leadership.

“I have battled stereotypes, overcome obstacles and continuously proven that women deserve a seat at every table.

“But like many of you, I have learned that resilience is the key to survival – and, more importantly, to success,” she said.

Godwin-Isaac added that through her initiatives, she has witnessed young women rising to become leaders and innovators against all odds, transforming their lives and inspiring hope.

She called for unity and compassion among women to attain greatness, expressing optimism for a future where women are unstoppable when they support each other.
