Members of the Pentecost Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos chapter, have been urged to rise to their God-given mandates and embrace a new season of purpose and transformation.
This call came during the Lagos pastors and ministers conference organized by the PFN, with the theme “New Dawn,” held at the Household of David in Ikeja, Lagos. The event attracted thousands of ministers and focused on impactful teachings, life-changing worship, and setting a new tone for PFN leaders and members in Lagos State.
Guest speakers included Rev. Wale Adefarasin, former Chairman of PFN and Senior Pastor of Guiding Light Assembly; Pastor David Ogbueli, founder of Dominion City Worldwide; and Apostle Joshua Selman. They emphasized the need for ministers to adopt a more effective approach to discipleship and to be agents of positive change in their communities.
In his address titled “The Role of the Church in Nation Building,” Rev. Wale Adefarasin stated that the church’s responsibilities extend beyond prayer. He encouraged church leaders to lead exemplary lives, empower their members for political leadership, and engage in honest discourse with authorities. Adefarasin said, “Be a model of what a Christian should be… It is time for transparency and accountability. Deal with corruption, educate the people, and resist any form of negative influence.”
Apostle Joshua Selman spoke on “The Great Commission,” outlining world evangelization, discipleship, and territorial transformation as its core components. He urged ministers to seek knowledge that would transform their lives and emphasized the importance of mentoring believers effectively to ensure they can defend their faith. “The average believer cannot defend his or her faith,” he noted, stressing the need for sound discipleship.
Pastor Yemi Davids, Chairman of Lagos PFN, called for a new season of purpose and transformation, asserting that any change within Lagos PFN must begin with its leadership. “The better the leader, the better the organization,” he stated. He lamented the lack of trust in many Pentecostal ministers and urged them to bridge the confidence gap through integrity and right behavioral patterns. “When people hear the title ‘prophet,’ some think con man,” he remarked.
Davids encouraged ministers not to hinder God’s work in their generation and to remain open to new developments within the PFN. He emphasized the importance of being a blessing to their communities, stating, “The days of self-centeredness are over.” He announced plans for a massive career fair for young people, aimed at connecting them with CEOs and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Attendees described the conference as an eye-opener, filled with impartation and revelation, and a call to fully embrace divine purpose and transformation in their respective churches
