Governing Council suspends Otukpo varsity VC, appoints Prof. Agbo

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo, FUHSO, has suspended the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Innocent Ujah and appointed Prof. Ediga Agbo in his place as acting Vice Chancellor.

The Council in a statement by the institution’s Coordinator, Information, Publication and Public Relations, James Onogwu explained that the pioneer Vice Chancellor was suspended from office for alleged gross misconduct and willful disregard to its authority.

Before his suspension from office, Prof. Ujah was expected to complete his tenure of office before the end of the year.

The statement noted that the new appointee, a Professor of Microbiology had already assumed duty in acting capacity and would remain in office for a period of six months.

Part of the statement read, “Prof. Ediga Agbo has been appointed as the acting Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, FUHSO.

“Prof. Agbo emerged acting Vice Chancellor of the University during the special meeting of the Governing Council held on October 17, 2024, and headed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of FUHSO, Engr. Ohieku Salami.

“The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council and Members, earlier, during the meeting suspended the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Innocent Ujah for alleged gross misconduct and willful disregard to its authority.

“The sexagenarian, and renowned Prof. of Microbiology is a native of Otukpo, Benue State, Nigeria. Prof Ediga Agbo has since assumed duty as the acting VC of FUHSO for a period of six months.”
