Uzokwe mourns Ifeanyi Ubah’s death

Representative of Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Hon. Amb. Peter Ifeanyi Uzokwe (YPP), described Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah’s death as a monumental loss to the world.

Speaking at the Nnewi Debate 2024, organized by Transformation Ambassadors of Nnewi (TAN), Uzokwe lamented that the Young People’s Party (YPP) has yet to recover from Ubah’s sudden death.

Uzokwe emphasized Ubah’s impact, saying, “Nigeria lost somebody in Ifeanyi Ubah. The entire world equally lost somebody in Ifeanyi Ubah.”

He questioned who would fill the void left by Ubah, citing his roles as Senate Committee Chairman on State and Local Government, Chairman of the Down Stream Sector of the Petroleum Industry, and Capital Oil.

Regarding the local government chairmanship and councillorship elections, Uzokwe stressed, “This election is not about opposition. It is about capacity. It is about what you have to offer the people.”

He assured that Nnewi doesn’t need state government interference, as it’s their right to receive allocations.

Uzokwe endorsed Hon. Paul Muoneke, YPP’s candidate, saying, “He is a material, and I’m confident that he’ll win the election.” Muoneke, the only candidate presents at the debate, outlined his plans to:

Enhance Security: Harmonize Nnewi Community Central Security and local vigilante services with CCTV cameras.

Modernize Markets: Upgrade Nnewi markets to international standards with CCTV cameras.

Empower Youths: Promote sports development.

Boost Agriculture: Facilitate agricultural growth through Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Transform Nnewi: Ensure steady power supply, complete Nnewi Stadium and GRA projects, and develop critical infrastructure.

Chukwumaife Caleb Festus Okeke-Enyobi, TAN’s Publicity Secretary, deemed the debate a success, but expressed disappointment that only Muoneke attended, despite invitations to candidates from major parties like PDP, APC, and APGA.
