Aigbe withdraws from Edo Pdp guber primaries

BENIN—AHEAD of Edo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries,  which come up weekend in Benin, one of its governorship aspirants, Mr. Kelvin Aigbe, yesterday in Benin announced his withdrawal from the race and pitched his tent with Major General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), one of the governorship aspirants from Edo South Senatorial zone.

With his withdrawal from the race, the party now has five governorship aspirants, namely: Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Prof. Osereimen Osunbor, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyikemwen, Mr. Ken Imansuangbon and Gen. Charles Airhiavbere.

Announcing his withdrawal from the governorship race, Mr. Aigbe, told supporters that he took the decision in the interest of unity of the party.

He said: “After due consideration and consultation with members of my family, campaign organisation and leaders of our great party and above all, in the spirit of one PDP family, it will be in the best interest of the party, hence I decided to withdraw from the race.”
