Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, South South Zonal Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has apologized to the Nigeria Police and the Inspector General of Police for wearing a Police uniform while addressing the press on the upcoming Edo governorship election.

Agbomhere, a Supernumerary Chief Superintendent of Police, stated that his actions were unintentional and regrettable. He clarified that his views expressed during the media interview were personal and not representative of the Nigeria Police Force.

As a lawyer, journalist, and human rights crusader, Agbomhere expressed concern over the alleged assault on democracy and human rights by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government. He cited the murder of Inspector Anu Akoh and the attack on APC members in Ekpoma.

Agbomhere, a member of various professional organizations, emphasized his commitment to nation-building, peace, and security. He vowed to continue opposing corruption and incompetence in Edo State.

The APC stalwart criticized Governor Obaseki’s inflammatory comments, suggesting that Edo State and Nigeria would burn if his candidate, Asue Ighodalo, was not elected. He noted that Asue Ighodalo’s refusal to sign the peace accord before the election was alarming.

Agbomhere urged Edo electorate to support APC candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo, describing him as the only candidate without a godfather. He emphasized Okpebholo’s potential to provide humble leadership, good governance, equity, fairness, and justice.

Finally, Agbomhere solicited Senator Okpebholo to form an all-inclusive government, uniting Edo people and engaging experts from various political divides to contribute to the state’s common good.”
