Chinedu Omorie, one of Nollywood’s prominent directors and filmmakers, has expressed his deep commitment to using filmmaking as a platform for social change.

Known for his work with top-tier actors such as Nse Ikpe Etim, Bimbo Akintola, Zack Orji, and Femi Jacobs, Omorie has directed acclaimed projects like Silver Town, The Anomalous, and Aminata.

His unique approach to filmmaking is not just about entertainment but also about delivering powerful messages that can drive societal impact.

“One of my motivations in filmmaking is the desire to use it as a tool for social change. That is also very key for me. I want to tell stories that have substance. I just don’t want to entertain people; I want to preach about something,” Omorie explained.

Throughout his career, Omorie has consistently chosen projects with meaningful narratives, ensuring that each story he tells resonates deeply with real-world issues. “So in most cases, I find myself doing projects that have a voice. It must not be only for entertainment; it must have a strong element that addresses an issue in our world and how it can be taken care of. That’s what drives me. That’s one of the things that gets me attracted to a script or story, whether it’s from me or anybody,” he added.

Omorie also emphasized the importance of trust between directors and actors, especially when working on emotionally challenging scenes. “Actors must be able to trust directors. They can be vulnerable, and their vulnerability will not be misconstrued. If an actor finds themselves in that vulnerable state of being emotional, they should have the confidence that their vulnerability will not be taken out of context,” he noted.

As Omorie continues to build a strong body of work in Nollywood and beyond, his commitment to both artistic excellence and social responsibility remains at the forefront of his filmmaking journey.
