Meet Seth Kyauta, the Nigerian man from Nasarawa who is a powerful testament to resilience, grit, and the belief in one’s potential. Seth decided to change his story from hardship to financial success, turning what seemed like overwhelming challenges into stepping stones to a better life.
Seth’s early life was typical of many Nigerian youths. Born into a modest family, with a police officer father and a primary school teacher mother, he thought they were middle class until a book changed his perspective. “Reading Rich Dad Poor Dad in 2018 made me question why some people were rich while others struggled,” Seth recalls.
Tragedy struck in 2019 when Seth’s father passed away, leaving him as the primary breadwinner for his family. The pressure was immense, especially as Seth was only in his second year at the Federal University of Technology Minna, where he studied Physics. Despite being a top student at the College of Education Akwanga, Seth felt unfulfilled and yearned for a life beyond academic walls.
In 2021, during a prolonged ASUU strike, Seth took a job as an assistant chef at a Chinese company in Abuja, earning just ₦100 per hour. The conditions were grueling, with 12-hour shifts and strict post-COVID regulations that prevented him from leaving the premises or having visitors. It was in this environment that Seth decided he needed a change.
Exploring online opportunities, Seth stumbled upon affiliate marketing. Despite his exhausting work schedule, he poured his energy into learning and building his business. After six months, he quit his job and used his savings to repair a house for himself and his siblings. He also dropped out of university, convinced that the traditional path wasn’t for him.
But life wasn’t easy. Seth’s affiliate marketing business struggled, and there were days when finding ₦200 felt like a lifeline. By February 2023, things seemed bleak, but a chance encounter with Sam Sule, the founder of Rarefied Academy, changed everything.
Sam introduced Seth to a Web 3.0 business, and despite initial doubts, Seth decided to trust his new mentor. After 15 months of hard work and perseverance, Seth won first place in a global contest, earning $10,000 and bringing his total earnings to ₦21.9 million.
Reflecting on his journey, Seth says, “It’s often those who love you the most who inadvertently hold you back because they fear what might stretch you. But it’s that very stretch that brings out the best in you.”
Seth’s story is a powerful reminder that with determination and the right guidance, anything is possible.
