FRSC warns Okada operators against using car horns

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, in Bauchi has warned motorcyclists against using car horns while driving on highways across the state.

The Sector Commander, Mr Zakariya Mamman, told newsmen in Bauchi on Wednesday that the commission was aware that the commercial motorcyclists use the car horns to intimidate other road users.

He urged the operators to desist from the acts as it was a crime to “fitted car horns on motorcycles. We have been receiving complaints about motorcyclists using car horns to intimidate other road users.

“My men have arrested some of these persons, they were forced to remove the horns and pay fines after confiscating them,” he said.

He added that any motorcyclists found plying the highway in the state would be apprehended and the motorcycle impounded.

The commander reminded the motorcyclists that over loading was still an offence and that the commission would continue to arrest and penalize offenders.

Mamman decried the way some motorcyclists over load school children to or fro their schools, and called on parents to stop patronising them. NAN
