The troops of the Nigerian army under Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), have under it’s  operation killed two bandits in Zamfara to record more successes in the fight against banditry activities in the Northwest.

The army spokesperson (OPHD) Lieutenant Sulaiman Omale, in a statement made available to newsmen today, said on Thursday 16th August, the troops under directives of Commander 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General TM Opurum successfully neutralized two bandits during a fierce encounter in Kaura Namoda town.

The statement further said, after acting on credible intelligence, the gallant troops swiftly responded to reports of Violent Extremist activities at Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi area of Kaura Namoda Local government area.

It said upon arrival the scene, the troop engaged the element in a serious gun duel,  where they effectively neutralized two of the violent extremist while others were forced to withdraw in disarray.

According to statement, following the engagement, the troops conducted a mop-up operation, during which they recovered one operational motorcycle belonging to the bandits.

“The area has since been secured, with troops of Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Hadarin Daji in maintaining an aggressive presence and conducting confidence-building patrol to ensure the safety of locals in the community”.

The success of this operation indicates the ongoing commitment of Operation Hadarin Daji to rid Zamfara State off banditry and restore peace and security to the region.
