Zenith Bank wants Nigerian coaches to be ambitious and aspire to be at the zenith of their careers by acquiring requisite skills and setting standards for themselves.

And one of the ways to achieve this is through training and discipline.
The Bank said this in their head office in Lagos at the weekend while presenting cheque to Delta State Football Association for the sponsorship of training of their coaches in various institutions at home and abroad. Their sponsorship is worth N15 m.

State FA chairman Amaju Pinnick who also doubles as Executive Chairman of the Sports Commission said that up to 50 coaches will benefit from the Zenith Bank sponsorship. Two of them will train in Europe while others will train in  Institutes of Sports in Lagos and Mosoghar. Amaju commended the bank for their immense contributions to sports development in Nigeria and assured that their partnership to train coaches would yield tremendous results. Executive Director of the Bank Peter Amangbo who represented the MD Godwin Emefiele commended the vision of  Delta FA and enjoined them to strive harder to institutionalize their efforts so that those “coming after you who may lack the enthusiasm and professionalism that you are showing may not be able to destroy the work that u are doing.”
Amangbo sounded knowledgeable in sports and said that Zenith Bank would like to see Nigerian coaches coach abroad and “ make impact just like we see Nigerian players playing for some of the best clubs in the world.”

Amangbo said that Nigerian coaches should take the challenge to be prominent in their trade. It was against this background that he commended the vision of investing in coaches, saying that they were proud of the partnership with Delta to train coaches.  “Coaches are key to sports develo-pment  and cannot be ignored if we are to take sports development seriously.”

He said further: “Our coaches should be ambitious. A combination of that and  acquisition of skills through training will distinguish them in their careers. How can we have players in the best clubs and our coaches are not challenged to aspire to make name abroad even if it is not to the level of stardom of the players? They must be ambitious. We are interested in developing great structures and we are happy to be doing this social responsibility as we have done in other sectors like health and infrastructure.”
