Eid-el-fitri: Mimiko admonishes Muslims

By Dayo Johnson

AKURE-GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State weekend rejoiced with Moslems in Nigeria and all over the world on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitri celebrations, urging them not to deviate from the strict adherence to the tenets of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

He urged them to imbibe the spirit of selflessness, forgiveness, generosity and peaceful co-existence with their neighbours all which were the hallmark of the Holy month of Ramadan.

The governor in a statement yesterday in Akure also asked Moslems and Nigerians in general to use the occasion to reflect on their spiritual lives and what could be done to uplift the nation to the heights dreamed for it by its founding fathers.

According to him, after a fervent observation of the Ramadan, it would not speak well for our people to abandon all that the Ramadan stood for now that the fasting is over.

“After a month of faithful observation of the Ramadan, I wish you and all your family a joyous celebration. With your fervent prayers for greater and better Nigeria we will make our nation to attain its destiny as envisioned by its founding fathers.
