REAL estate investor, My-Ace China, has pledged commitment to helping in harnessing choral potentials in Rivers state to compete gainfully in the global entertainment space.

China who gave the pledge on his investiture as first-ever Patron of Rivers State Government House Choir, said Rivers choral assets may well be the best light out of the state in a Nigerian nation proving to be home to the best in talent, art, music, and culture.

China, Chief Executive Officer, Housing and Construction Mayor Limited, said the pledge to support efforts in packaging the choral potentials of the state for export complements his championing of the restoration of the pride of Rivers as an entertainment hub.

Accompanied by wife, Chidinma China, on the occasion, China, fondly known as Mayor of Housing, on receipt of his induction plaque said the development was a huge privileged.

He said, “The responsibility of taking the best part and the best light from Rivers to rest of the world is a privilege I find very rare. It is like a spiritual conferment on me than a choral role from this or any other choral group for that matter.

“I feel like a man called into ecclesiastical mission, the onus is on me to make sure this beautiful choir in this Government House in the bubbling entity called Rivers is known all over the world as the best of what the state has to export.

“What is wrong is that we have been carried away by politics and eking a living that we tend to neglect these things. My message to Nigerians is, don’t neglect the rich heritage of where we come from, especially our skills and talents. You will be surprised how much more that would get us to our destination than politics and the like.”

Enitoun Ezekiel Iyalla, Rivers State Choir Music Administrator and Founder, Royal Male Choir, said explained that the umbrella body of the Government House Choir is the Riv-Harmonious Mission Ensemble.

The Music Director who is former Chairman, Ahoada West Local Government Council, said the Choir moves out when representing the State Government on public functions and on outings in stand-up performances or own concerts.

“However, for exclusively private performances, they go by their umbrella name, Riv-Harmonious Mission Ensemble. The group is made up of professionals in terms of singing and occupation. They have graduates in diverse fields as well as career professionals.

“Some of them have more than 30 years of singing and instrumental careers. That is said to be only possible with commitment, dedication, passion and basically, service to God.”

On the choice of China as Patron, Kate Ogan, media personality, said “Nobody enters into the Ensemble without serious background check.
We saw a lot of qualities in China including his exploits promoting human capacity development in Rivers.

“No one person can do everything for a society or a state, so we need others to help to develop people. We also pray before we touch anyone. We prayed and we got the leading to go ahead.”

Mr Asueiza Ezekiel Iyalla who sings in the alto segment, said appealed to, ” Other Nigerians to come and see the roles they can play to lift the talents of Rivers people. We have the best organist in Nigeria, now in Germany. If people come in, they can see exportable talents.”

Highlights of the event include rendition of classical songs, including ‘Peace, Be Still”, dedicated to affairs of Rivers State where peace and still waters are most needed.
