PENGASSAN gives 7-day strike notice to Rivers gov

By VICTOR AHIUMA-YOUNG
PETROLEUM and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, has issued a seven days strike notice to Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi and the manager of VAM Onne, Mr. Eugene Fogli, over a lingering dispute with VAM Onne, Rivers State.

In a petition to the governor, PENGASSAN threatened to shut  oil and gas operations in Rivers and the neighbouring states, if the governor did not intervene in the crisis, which it claimed led to the brutalisation of more than 27 of its members during a peaceful protest.

In the petition, PENGASSAN alleged  that Fogli, in collaboration with some politicians outside the company, used thugs armed with dangerous weapons to harass, assault and manhandle its members, in order to disrupt the peaceful protest organised by Port Harcourt Zone against the management of VAM Onne Nig. Ltd.
