OSOGBO — OSUN State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, has restated his administration’s commitment to the development of rural areas in the state, particularly access roads to enhance massive food production and better living conditions for the people.

Speaking while receiving a team of World Bank and French Development Agency on Rural Access and Mobility Projects, RAMP, at the Government House in Osogbo, yesterday, the governor said: “Why are we this enthusiastic about this project? Right from the time we began the efforts to campaign and win the mantle of leadership, we had made it clear that food security would be our primary agenda.

If that is the case and if we all realise that over 70 per cent of our people are engaged in farming in the rural areas, then if you are committed to promoting agriculture which will guarantee food security, then access to rural communities, rural farmsteads, is an imperative.”

Speaking earlier, leader of the Team, Mr. Nicholas Pelthier-Thiberge, who is the World Bank’s Senior Infrastructure Economist, Transport Sector (African Region) commended Osun State for emerging the first state to lead the way in the implementation of the RAMP scheme across the country.
