Idiare Alimomo, Manager, Youth segment, Etisalat Nigeria, said  the Nigerian Idol reality TV competition is getting hotter now as contestants who were called back are looking forward to being selected as one of those who will be picked through wild card selection by the judges and the audience.

“I know that they are really nervous about the results. I urge everyone to vote for their favourite contestants to keep them in the competition,” he said shortly after the nine contestants performed for the judges’ nod.

Last weekend, TV viewers, especially those that have made it a habit to watch the ongoing Nigerian Idol,  were treated to a fantastic performance by the contestants Tega, Ebi Paul, Byno, G. Circuit, Sly 1, Sophyn, Stephen Onochie, Phunky and Joe Blue who tried to out perform each other to win the judges’ wild card entry in the next stage of the reality television show.

The show which is broadcast on major television stations across the country has become a must-watch every weekend as the contestants have continued to show maturity in their performances. Last week was not an exception as the contestants dazzled and displayed the stuff they are made of which earned them not only the standing ovation of the studio audience but good words from the judges

Stephen Onochie did so wonderfully well performing the popular “Tonight, I celebrate my love with you” song that Yinka forgot that she is a judge and sang openly and loudly along with the young man.

Sophyn could not contain her excitement when Charly Boy commended her after her session. This was after she did justice to the evergreen song, “My Love.” Both Sasha and Yinka gave her kudos with Daniel telling her “every time you sing, you steal my heart. I will love to see you throughout this competition.”

Sly 1 did Jimmy Cliff’s evergreen song, ‘I can see clearly now’ so well that an impressed Charly Boy begged the audience and viewers to vote for him. He said, “I am begging you guys to vote reasonably; good one Sly 1.” Sasha, who also loved the performance, gave him thumbs up and wished the young man best of luck. Daniel concluded that there is a great talent buried in Sly 1 and said “I will love to see you become professional.”
