ABUJA – Subuloye Precious Oyetayo, Member of the Advertising Regulation Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and Communication Creative Director of Cogent Device International, has emphasized the importance of effective communication in governance.

In a statement marking Democracy Day on Wednesday, Oyetayo said clear communication is crucial for building trust between government and citizens, promoting accountability and transparency.

He urged government to prioritize plain and honest communication, fostering a society that is better informed, involved, and accountable.

Oyetayo said, “Effective communication is the foundation of good governance, enabling citizens to understand policies and participate in the democratic process.

“By prioritizing effective communication, government can demonstrate its commitment to democracy and the well-being of its citizens.

“Effective communication can bridge the gap between government and citizens, fostering a sense of inclusivity and participation.

“As we celebrate our democracy, we urge government to prioritize plain and honest communication, fostering a society that is better informed, involved, and accountable.

“We also encourage citizens to engage with government and hold leaders accountable for their communication.
