Nigeria movie producer, actress, philanthropist cum entrepreneur, Peace Egwu has stated that the passion she has for humanity is her major drive in her life.

The filmmaker who was born in Afikpo North L.G.A of Ebonyi State explained that though she has been churning out movies, she also makes out time to touch people’s lives.

Explaining some of her journey through humanity to our reporter, she said: “In 2016, I was appointed as a HIV/Aids Counsellor with Enugu North Local Government. I was an integral part of the HIV/AIDS counseling team, bringing a unique perspective and a wealth of experience from my work in the film industry.

“My dedication to helping those affected by HIV/AIDS and raising awareness about the disease has made a significant impact on the community. I led a team of young filmmakers and created a compelling and engaging theatre show on proper HIV awareness. This show was performed across multiple local government areas of the state.

“I also organized and facilitated workshops and seminars to educate community members about HIV/AIDS prevention, transmission, and treatment.” She stated.

Peace also conducted training sessions for other counselors and community health workers, sharing her expertise in communication, empathy, and cultural sensitivity. These sessions have enhanced the skills and effectiveness of the counseling team.

Peace Egwu has produced and acted in several movies and still counting. She has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to leveraging the medium of film as a tool for social change. One of her projects; “ALUNA”, dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for “THE GIRL CHILD”, exemplifies her dedication to using storytelling to make a positive impact on society.

She graduated from the University of Calabar, Nigeria in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Translation Studies. Her passion to impact positively in her society and the quest to combat critical health issues and assist in developing good and functional policies, propelled her journey to the United Kingdom in pursuit of a Masters of Science Degree in Public Health from Glasgow Caledonian University, London Campus. A feat she recently completed in May, 2024.
