As the Super Eagles prepare to battle Rwanda in the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier billed for Kigali next month, former U-17 and U-20 coach, John Obuh has  urged Eagles gaffer, Stephen Keshi to keep faith with the home-Eagles, rather than discard them.

The Home-Eagles early this month in Abuja, held Angola to a barren draw and Obuh is insisting that Keshi continues on the rebuilding process in order to have a formidable team ahead of the match next month.

Obuh, who is the head coach Sharks FC of Port Harcourt told Saturday Vanguard Sports that the only thing he (Keshi) needs is patience because it will help him in building  a strong team that can take on teams in Africa and the rest of the World.

On the attitude of  the foreign-based players toward the nation team, Obuh said, “Nigerian players have attitude and their attitude is more or less a dangerous one because we have one common thing as far as Nigeria teams are concerned. The blame falls on coaches when players don’t play well and this makes our players less committed. I think there should  be a  division between when a coach has done his best to produce a good team and when a player puts in his best in a match.

They give their clubs 100 percent but the case is different in the national team. All we need to do is to also hit hard on players. At the end of the day, everybody is a stakeholder by performance and results.

Sparing a thought on the recall of Yakubu Aiyegbeni to the Eagles, Obuh said, “He is a Nigerian  and should not be  denied playing for his country no matter what happened in the past. Mistakes are always made in football. If the coach feels he is still useful,  so be it.”
