All is set for the governorship primary election of the People’s Democratic Party in Ondo state, as 627 delegates from the 18 council areas of the state, will today elect the flagbearer of the party, for the November 16, election.
The accreditation of the delegates is ongoing at the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome), Akure.
Security was tight as men of the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and the DSS provided adequate security.

Seven governorship aspirants of the party are participating in today’s contest.
They include, a former deputy governor of the state, Hon Agboola Ajayi; former General Secretary of the Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, Chief Sola Ebiseni; a former information and orientation commissioner, Prince John Ola Mafo; Bamidele Akingboye; Adeolu Akinwumi; Bosun Arebuwa and a former House of Representatives member, Hon. Kolade Akinjo, have been screened and cleared by the Senator Sam Egwu screening committee to participate in the primary election.
The 7-man Primary Election Committee, headed by Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo have arrived at the venue of the election.

Recall that a statement issued by the state’s Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, in Akure, said that the accreditation of delegates would commence at 10:00 am.
Peretei asked “all those who are not delegates or have no business at the venue are advised to keep a reasonable distance from the arena.”
