An environmental sustainability expert, Olamide Iyanda, has advocated widespread adoption of renewable energy technology to combat greenhouse gas emissions and promote environmental sustainability.

Disclosing this to the press recently, he underscored the critical role of renewable energy technologies in reducing the carbon footprint and transitioning towards a sustainable future.

Renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind and hydroelectric power, offer promising alternatives to fossil fuels, which are major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions.

Iyanda emphasized the importance of adopting these technologies on a larger scale to curb carbon emissions and combat climate change effectively.

“Renewable energy technologies provide a clean and sustainable source of power that can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By harnessing the power of the sun, wind and water, we can mitigate the environmental impact of traditional energy sources and pave the way for a greener future,” he asserted.

Highlighting the potential for investment in renewable energy infrastructure to stimulate economic development while simultaneously addressing environmental concerns, Iyanda said adoption of renewable energy technologies not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also promotes economic growth and job creation.

“Transitioning to renewable energy creates opportunities for job growth and economic development. Investments in solar and wind energy projects, for example, can create new employment opportunities and drive innovation in the clean energy sector,” he said.

Iyanda emphasized the need for policy support and incentives to accelerate the adoption of

renewable energy technologies. Government initiatives such as subsidies, tax incentives, and

renewable energy targets play a crucial role in incentivising investment in clean energy

infrastructure and driving the transition towards a low-carbon economy.

“To achieve significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, we need strong policy support and incentives to encourage the widespread adoption of renewable energy technologies. Governments must prioritize renewable energy in their energy policies and provide the necessary support to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable energy future,” he noted.
