ABUJA- A nonprofit organisation, One Love Foundation, OLF, Monday, condemned alleged racism and denial of a Nigerian man access by management of a Chinese supermarket in Abuja.

Speaking on the denial of access by the Nigerian man who alleged in a viral video that he went to the supermarket in Abuja to buy some items but was turned back by some Chinese there, the Founder and President, OLF, Chief Patrick Eholor, described the action of the Chinese as ‘Chinese Apartheid’ in Nigeria, condemned it, and called on the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the alleged action by the Chinese.

Eholor said: “In my time and our time we are seeing ‘Chinese Apartheid’ in our own country. Nigeria is sovereignty, and we are witnessing apartheid in Nigeria.

“A Nigerian man was denied access a supermarket in Abuja, where the Chinese people told the Nigerian man that he cannot be allowed in because the supermarket is specially for Chinese people and white people, and that is special discrimination, and we should not allow this to happen in Nigeria,

“The man in a viral video said ‘There is this Chinese Supermarket I saw online, and decided to go check out some things like clothing, food items and others, but when I got to the gate of the supermarket they told me I cannot go in, it is strictly for Chinese. This supermarket is in Abuja, Nigeria, and a Nigerian cannot enter, this is a joke. The Chinese now have more access than us in our country and we cannot enter their supermarket, and this cannot be allowed in China by their citizens.’

“So this video has been trending, we condemn the action of the Chinese and declare it totally unacceptable. This racism has happened to me in China. I went to banks there to cash my money sent via Western Union but they denied me access to the money saying Nigeria is on the black list of money laundering nations.

“I therefore call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs to urgently look into this case of racism in our nation. The Chinese people involved should be invited by the National Assembly on this matter, and enough is enough for Chinese people to do things and get away with it.”

However, he (Eholor) said if nothing is done he will mobilize Nigerians for a protest over the matter, because he would not sit and watch racial abuse of Nigerians by the Chinese in Nigeria.
