…Confident of Edo Governorship Victory

In a strategic move, the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-South Zonal executives at the weekend
convened in Calabar the Cross River State capital, with Governor Bassey Otu presiding over the meeting as the newly conferred leader of the party at the zonal level.

The gathering was marked by a renewed sense of unity and determination as the party leaders discussed crucial political issues affecting the region.

Governor Otu, the sole APC governor in the South-South, was praised for his leadership and achievements in office, with calls to replicate his success across the zone.

Addressing the media after the meeting, the Zonal Vice Chairman, Hon. Chief Victor Gaidom, expressed the executives’ unanimous decision to work in synergy to strengthen the party in the region, particularly in the upcoming Edo State governorship election.

“We are using this opportunity to issue a warning to other political parties in Edo State, letting them know that the APC is ready to collect back the governance of the state,” Gaidom stated confidently.

The leaders praised Governor Otu’s accomplishments in areas such as environmental management, infrastructural renewal, agricultural development, and human capital investment, highlighting his alignment with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the federal government.

Otu, who was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, emphasized the importance of the meeting in deepening the APC’s presence in the South-South region.

“Today, Cross River State is the only APC state in the South-South; we want to increase that number before we go to the next general election,” he said.

The gathering was attended by state chairmen from across the region, including Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq. (Cross River), Chief Stephen Ntuk Ekpo (Akwa Ibom), Chief Tony Okocha (Rivers), and Hon. Jarrett Tenebe (Edo).

The APC’s South-South Zonal executives have sent a clear message of unity, determination, and confidence in their ability to secure victory in the upcoming Edo State gubernatorial election, while also seeking to expand the party’s foothold in the region.
